Here is a picture of the monument in Hiroshima Peace Park. The statue on top is Sadako. On Peace Day (August 6th) thousands of origami peace cranes are placed at the monument's base. At the bottom the following poem is inscribed:
This is our cry, this is our prayer; peace in the world.
This is so cool. I never even knew that this monument exhisted, or that there was a day to commerate those lost in the bombing. I really hate it when as an adult, I learn something that I probably should have learned in school.
